We enjoyed our Big Bus experience overall, but primarily due to the guided walking tour we added. Our guide Charles was absolutely amazing. His tour was so informative and fun and one of the highlights of our stay. The buses overall were not as helpful, as the routes covered a relatively small space, ran infrequently and at unpredictable times, meaning we missed several scheduled buses and had to walk to our destinations, and because the portion of the day they ran was fairly limited (arrived at the stop near our hotel at 11, stopped running by 17) it wasn’t as useful as we had hoped. Commentary was interesting when we were able to ride.

  • Vienna: 1-Hour Boat Tour on the Danube Canal

    2. Vienna: 1-Hour Boat Tour on the Danube Canal

Embark on a boat trip along the Danube Canal through the historical and modern city of Vienna. Once known as the “Vienna Water,” the “Vienna Arm," and the “Little Danube," this route of today’s Danube Canal was the main arm of the Danube in the Middle Ages. On this tour, see important buildings including the Uniqa Tower, the Urania Observatory, hotels and commercial buildings by Jean Nouvel, and the Media Tower by Hans Hollein. Take a look at the Schützenhaus by Otto Wagner, the Ringturm, the Rossauer Barracks, and the waste incineration plant of Spttelau designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Below the lock, the boat turns around and heads back to the starting point. Let the new Vienna and its countless graffiti art pieces and trendy areas enchant you as they pass by.

The boat tour was exactly on time and we could sit on the outside or inside the boat. We sat inside and had a great view of the river and surrounding buildings. The menu is reasonable. Overall it was a very relaxing experience.

  • Half-Day Kayaking Tour of Vienna

    6. Half-Day Kayaking Tour of Vienna

Discover the most quaint part of Vienna, the Alte Donau; a lakeside village which was cut off from the main channel of the Danube in 1870. This is where nocturnal beavers now roam in a section of the river. See how Vienna maintains its long-established reputation as a center for diplomacy, politics, and international relations as you paddle past the United Nations, along with several of the city’s other most important contemporary buildings. This view of the city is later contrasted with the cute lakeside huts which adorn the water’s edge to give vibrant bursts of color to the lakeshore. You will most likely be sharing the water with local rowers, the odd fisherman, and plenty of swans and ducks along the way. The Alte Donau is a watery oasis in the middle of the city, perfectly designed for further investigation via kayak. If it's hot, you can also take a break for a swim in the clean ...

The kayaking tour was a surprise birthday gift for my boyfriend. We had so much fun! James was a great guide, experienced, he's been giving kayaking tours and wine tours in Vienna for a couple of years now and took care of everything for us - we got to just enjoy the water and the tour of the city from the Old Danube. l am a local in Vienna, but found the tour to be a real treat providing me with new insights into my city. It was a relaxing, beautiful day out on the water, paddling, swimming and learning about Vienna. I liked our small group of people on the tour and fell in love with my city in a whole new way. Highly recommended.

Very nice quiet shipping. You get some information and see bridges and nature. Since the ship then turns and goes back, it doesn't matter where you sit. It was worthwhile for me.

The trip was a very nice trip for me and my family! The staff was very friendly! We will definitely be going on a trip on the Danube Canal / Danube again soon!

Magnificent tour where you can stop where you want and stay there one day and take the bus on the 2nd day

Also suitable for kiga children. We had ordered schnitzel, which was just right for the lunch trip.
