Visit the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio - an example of classical architecture of the 5th Century B.C. Upon your return to the city of Athens, you will stop at an idyllic place: Vouliagmeni Lake, in the heart of the Athenian Riviera.

Your day will begin with Acropolis Hill, the highlight of the tour. On the historical hill, you will have the experience of seeing the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of the Athena Nike, the monumental gateway (Propylaea), the Erechtheum and of course the Parthenon the main temple for the virgin goddess Athena. Leaving the Acropolis we will steer towards the Temple Of Zeus passing by Hadrian’s Arch and following we will visit Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896. Trailing on and driving aside from the national garden we will see the changing of the guard (Evzones) in front of the old palace, which is today Parliament House, high above the central square of Athens. Then, driving into the historical center of the city we will reach the highest hill of Athens, the hill of Lycabettus. On Lycabettus Hill, you’ll have the best panoramic view of the city, the hill of Acropolis and the Aegean Sea. Moving on and feeling hungry by now, a traditional Greek tavern with authentic Greek cooked dishes or fresh fish – seafood by the sea. After a satisfying lunch, we will have a pleasant drive along the coastline known as the Athenian Riviera and the southern suburbs. Passing through the uptown suburbs of Athens (Glyfada, Voula, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza) and making a first stop at the famous Vouliagmeni Lake, mineral – therapeutic – natural lake. Continuing our drive we will come across more isolated but charismatic areas with a breathtaking view of the Saronic Gulf which will take us to the archaeological site of Cape Sounio, the southeastern edge of the Attica Peninsula. On entering the site you will see the dominating Temple Of Poseidon, the ancient Greek god of the sea, surrounded by the remains of fortifications, the gateway (porticos) and houses. Close by are also see the remains of the temple Athena Souniada. Besides its unique location and its archaeological interest, Cape Sounio is also famous for its breathtaking sunset and view of the Greek Islands. It is rightly considered one of the most romantic places in Greece.

Spend the day driving along the coastline of Greece. Drive from Athens to Cape Sounida, making stops for photos, before arriving at the Temple of Poseidon to watch the sunset. Eat dinner with a breath-taking view and relax with a private car back to your hotel. Begin the tour by driving along the Athenian Riviera, stopping along the way to capture photos on the scenic route. Pass the suburbs of Glyfada, Voula, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza.   Stop at the picturesque peninsula of Vouliagmeni. This is the most expensive piece of land in the whole of Greece. Following collection from your Athens accommodation, pass through some of the city's most scenic suburbs whilst following a coastal road. Your first stop is to Lake Vouliagmeni, a hidden treasure of the Athenian Riviera. Lake Vouliagmeni has a steady temperature all year round, ranging between 18-24 degrees Celsius. Its water is brackish, containing underground sea water mixed with the water of a spring. This makes it an ideal location for swimmers who visit the lake to profit from its mineral-rich water. Following the lake, continue along the coastal road whilst admiring the green and rocky coastline of Attica on your way to Cape Sounion. As you approach the promontory, the columns of the Temple of Poseidon are visible from the road, standing proudly on top of a hill and dominating the surroundings. The temple was erected to honor the ancient Greek God of the Sea, Poseidon. On a lower hill, opposite Cape Sounion, you can discover the ruins of a second ancient temple that was built to honor Goddess Athena. Take your time in admiring the infinite blue of the Aegean Sea, as no land catches your eye except for scattered islands in the open sea. Admire the beautiful sunset colors in the sky from the highest point of the hill, following which you return to Athens following the same route.

Then we will drive up to Lycabettus hill to see the panoramic view of the city, 267 meters high from the level of the sea. Passing by the temple of Zeus we will stop to see it and Hadrian's Arch, builded in 1st century AD. Then, we drive to the south suburbs of Athens, passing by the Athenian Riviera, on our way we will stop for breathtaking pictures. In the beautiful area of Anavissos we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch next to the sea, having seafood. After lunch, we reach the Cape Sounion and we visit the temple of Poseidon. Finally we drive back to Athens, on our way we will have a short stop at Vouliagmeni Lake.
