Hop aboard the Explorer Bus nearby Hobart’s waterfront and begin the 1270 meter ascent up kunanyi/Mt. Wellington. As you make the upward journey, you’ll be treated to spectacular views over Hobart and deep into the horizon. At the summit, explore the lookouts and observation shelter. Enjoy the freedom of being able to hop-on and hop-off the bus at whatever stop you choose. If you like, instead of taking the bus straight to the top you can get off at some of the stops along the way and then hop back on a later bus. This nature lover’s day trip begins with pickup from Hobart hotel. Then, journey through the picturesque Derwent Valley. Drive past Australia's oldest operating pub. Continue on to Mt. Field National Park, where Russell Falls is a must-see. Stroll underneath enormous fern forests and some of the world’s tallest trees to the waterfall. Next, follow the freshwater back to New Norfolk, where your guide will explain its interesting history.   Stretch and grab a bite to eat before the next stop. Explore this diverse alpine landscape and the growing network of bushwalking tracks and mountain bike trails throughout Wellington Park. Then make your own way back down the mountain to Hobart on foot or mountain bike. This tour includes a professional and informative commentary in English. The buses can carry your mountain bikes, providing easier access to the growing network of mountain bike trails throughout Wellington Park. Participants can also walk from Kunanyi/Mt Wellington summit to Hobart and have a stunning 3-hour (13.6km) walk.
