Stykkishólmur: 2-Hour Sea Kayak Tour

1. Stykkishólmur: 2-Hour Sea Kayak Tour

This 2-hour sea kayak tour is the perfect opportunity to discover Iceland's nature and wildlife at its best. Escape the crowds on this excursion and travel along the coastline to some of the most remote islands of Breiðafjörður Bay. Enjoy scenic landscapes from sea level and see the surrounding glaciers and volcanoes of the peninsula. The tour will start at the kayak base located in the center of the charming village of Stykkishólmur. After a short paddle, the tour arrives at the first landmark, Landey, the world famous eiderdown harvesting location. Later, the tour visits shipwrecks, including the eerie wreckage of the Thorgeir. Occasionally kayakers spot the king of Iceland’s birdlife, the white-tailed eagle, flying far above or nesting on the islands. The white tail eagle is a rare and unforgettable sight. Then, after a short paddle break, the tour threads between local islands before returning to shore.

What people are saying about Western Region, Iceland

Was my first kayak trip and was fun! First the waterproof clothing was selected for us, then there was a short drive by boat to the starting point of the tour, there was a short briefing, adjustment of the footrests and off we went! As a beginner, I was amazed at what the current is all about. Often times I had to do a few paddle strokes to one side to stay in that direction ... I recommend!

Christian guided us very well through a windy and rainy evening tour. Seeing the birdlife (Puffins, Ducks, Seagulls etc) directly from the water very cool. At the end of the tour we could do some photos with an old ship wreck. Even with bad weather we would recommend the tour, being on the water is so calming and satisfying.

Very nice. Possibility of being 2 in the same kayak
