New Taipei: Shifen Pingxi Sky Lantern

4. New Taipei: Shifen Pingxi Sky Lantern

Pingxi Sky Lantern is a traditional activity that has become a popular tourist attraction in Taiwan. The lanterns are made of paper and bamboo and are released into the sky with the hope of bringing good luck and fortune. The practice dates back to the 19th century when lanterns were used to signal between villages and communicate messages during times of war. The Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival takes place annually in February, and it attracts thousands of visitors from around the world. However, visitors can also participate in the tradition year-round at the Shifen Old Street, located in the Pingxi district of New Taipei City. Shifen Old Street is a bustling market street that is lined with shops selling sky lanterns, traditional snacks, and souvenirs. Visitors can purchase a lantern from vendors and write their wishes or messages on the paper. The writing can be done in any language, making it an inclusive experience. Once the lantern is ready, a candle is lit inside, and the lantern is released into the sky. Watching the lanterns float up into the night sky is a beautiful sight and feels like a magical moment. This is a beautiful way to connect with the culture and people of Taiwan and to participate in a centuries-old tradition.

Taipei: Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence Ticket

5. Taipei: Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence Ticket

Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence was built based on the foundation of the guesthouse constructed by the Taiwan Provincial Government in 1949. It is a simple, practical, two-story building with a slanted roof. Structurally, it combines wood with reinforced concrete. The building was expanded while Mr. Chiang was still alive. In 2006, it underwent restoration and the project was completed in November 2009. The tour guide and driver is really good. I highly recommend Ms. Jenny Chang and Mr. Samuel, they are very kind and easy to approach. They share well history of places here in Taiwan. Thanks to them we learned a lot here in Taiwan, probably we will come back soon. Thank you so much.

Faced with a 150 minute wait, we only waited 15 minutes arriving with our printed reservation and at lunch time. The courses are varied and you leave full. Kind and efficient waiters. Open kitchen with chefs preparing dim sum. Very nice

Totally worth it!!! Bought online, walked in and past the long line to the counter, caught the next elevator up! Same for going back down, passed the line ad back on the elevator in a jiffy!

Great. Food was awesome. Usually you need to wait more than 50 minutes to get in the restaurant. With this voucher, we waited about 25 minutes.

Great value for money. We enjoy the experience. Just remember you have to print out the voucher from the Restaurant, not app voucher
