Zaanse Schans: Authentic Dutch Windmill Entrance Ticket

1. Zaanse Schans: Authentic Dutch Windmill Entrance Ticket

Enjoy an afternoon learning about the inner workings of windmills in the village of Zaanse Schans. To begin, find out how the mill saws a tree into a plank and then learn more about the history of the famous Dutch windmills at an exhibition in the basement of the mill. Next, come inside the world's last-remaining, still-working paint windmill, which is dated back to 1782. If there is enough wind, you can even experience the grinding process and watch how the mill grinds chalk under the large grind stones. In the back of the mill is where the loggers stands, and it is where tropical wood is chopped. Be sure to check out the impressive working wooden interior of this "old" industrial factory.

Begin your day with a pickup from one of the pickup points in central Amsterdam. As you leave Amsterdam, gaze out at the vivid flower fields of the Dutch countryside, which are awash with colorful crocuses, tulips, and daffodil. These blooming fields are remarkably beautiful, and as you admire them you can listen to your guide reveal more about the history of this region. Depending on the time, you might also stop to take photographs of this stunning landscape. When you arrive at Keukenhof Gardens, step off the bus and embark on a guided tour of the grounds. Covering an area of more than 79 acres (32 hectares), these magnificent gardens are home to innumerable blooming bulbs, all meticulously landscaped into aesthetically pleasing patterns. The gardens are filled with delicate blossoms of all sorts of colors and textures, which emanate a gently perfumed fragrance. After soaking up the garden vistas, continue to Zaanse Schans. The windmill village of Zaanse Schans is an open-air museum that has a collection of working windmills, wooden houses, barns, and shops dating back to the 18th and 19th Century. These buildings were brought there from 1961 onward, bringing back to life this most prosperous period of the Zaan region. The prosperity of the 18th and 19th century can be seen in the Zaanse Schans windmill village in several ways. Alongside windmills, barns, and other buildings, you will see beautiful houses that were originally built as homes to rich windmill owners and merchants. These houses have attractive facades and have been painted in traditional colors such as green, beige, and light blue. Upon arrival to the village, your guide will take you on an orientation tour. You will visit the clog museum and annex wooden shoemaker shop, and will also get to taste Dutch farmer cheese in the cheese farm. It is then time to further explore the village on your own. Before you set off to discover Zaanse Schans, your guide will provide you with further information on the unique character of Zaanse Schans, teach you the local history and culture, and give you insider’s tips about what to do and where to go.

What people are saying about Zaanse Schans

A visit to a windmill should not be missing when visiting the Netherlands ..... On arrival we were guided to a parking lot (daily price 9 €, in comparison the P + R parking lot in Amsterdam costs 8 € and when using the public parking lot) Transportation only 1 € ...) We continued to a museum village, which was created for tourists. Many small houses with museums or shops, which invited you to shop or eat, sometimes you have to pay admission. It all looks very nice and cute, you can also take very nice pictures. There are also extra toilets, only that you have to pay for children is not okay. All in all, it was very much geared towards mass tourism, which we didn't like that much. In comparison, we found the tour to Volendam (picture in Volendam costume with cheese and clog tour) and visit to the beautiful town better. We had our own tour there and so it was much more personal + original

It was nice wheather! You can feel free. Museum fantastic.. You can see a lot and experience a different feeling. The molens they are so beautiful! I will go again with my family.

It was a beautiful day out where Dutch workers asked ordinary people to work at the fireplace in the eu, where such a small country is known all over the world,

great to see how a mill works. enthusiastic employees who explain it fantastically.

Piece of Dutch Glory. It is a pity that there is no subsidy to support this.
